The Tacoma is by far the most popular mid-size truck in North America. However, that doesn’t stop its designer to continue to improve it. Recently, the updated version has been presented. It brings a lot of interesting novelties, which should help Tacoma keep its leading position. However, it looks like this won’t be all from the Japanese manufacturer for the next year. This updated version will hit the market soon, but how about the 2020 Toyota Tacoma Concept? It looks like Toyota wants to show us a few more things as well. What would this mean exactly, it is hard to say at the moment. The company isn’t generous in sharing details with us, so we have to rely on rumors only.
2020 Toyota Tacoma Concept
The 2020 Toyota Tacoma Concept could be another interesting thing to happen in the next year. Allegedly, the company is preparing a lot of novelties for the future and those should be introduced with this concept version. According to the latest reports, this concept would primarily serve to introduce new powertrain options. We are eagerly waiting to see an electrified version of this popular truck, and the 2020 Toyota Tacoma Concept could finally show it to us. On the other side, some reports are suggesting a diesel engine, but we believe that this version would rather come directly into serial production, than put it in a concept version.
The two new powertrain options are expected to come in the near future, but that won’t be all we are about to see on the 2020 Toyota Tacoma Concept. Some relatively reliable sources are also suggesting a completely new look, that would eventually introduce us with aesthetical solutions that would be used in the next-generation model.
2020 Toyota Tacoma Changes
Besides the 2020 Toyota Tacoma Concept, the next year is important for many other reasons as well. The current generation is getting a mid-cycle refresh and the changes have been already presented. There is a fine number of novelties and the first thing you will probably notice is a slightly revised front end, which comes with a new grille pattern, new LED lighting and a couple of more minor tweaks.
Still, changes on the inside seem more important in this case. One of the nicest novelties is that this truck finally comes with power-adjustable driver’s seat, as well as with a new infotainment system, which includes a new touchscreen, with enhanced graphics, more intuitive menu and, most importantly, smartphone integration goodies like Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and Amazon Alexa.
Still No Diesel Engine For Toyota Tacoma!?
One of the most anticipated things for the next year is a new diesel version. Until Toyota introduced all the novelties for the 2020-year model, most experts were pretty sure that an oil-burner is definitely coming. However, we can’t see it in Toyota’s brochure for the next year. So, things will most likely remain the same for the next year. Therefore, count on two familiar gasoline engine in the offer. Base models will continue with a 160-hp four-cylinder engine, while higher trims will include a bigger and more powerful 3.5-liter V6, which is good for 278 hp and 265 horsepower. When it comes to the potential diesel unit, we count on a familiar 2.8-liter from Hilux.
We may presume that the 2020 Toyota Tacoma Concept will hit showrooms sometime in the next year. On the other side, the updated, current-generation will come sometime in the third quarter of the year. Base models will go around 25.000 dollars.
