2020 Toyota Tacoma Diesel, Specs, Interior, Release Date

The current generation of the popular mid-size truck has been around for some time and it looks like the company prepares a lot of interesting novelties for the 2020 Toyota Tacoma. If we can rely on the latest reports, we are about to see a major update, which will include all kinds of changes. Besides typical aesthetical improvements, the new model is also about to come with a new engine. Allegedly, we are about to see a diesel engine in the offer, though we are still waiting for the official confirmation.

On the other side, the interior design probably won’t suffer too many changes. It will come with a familiar layout, though more standard equipment sounds quite likely. Considering the expected update, the 2020 Toyota Tacoma should arrive a little bit earlier than usual. Most likely, that will happen sometime in the third quarter of the year.

2020 Toyota Tacoma Design and Changes

As we already mentioned, most experts could on a mid-cycle refresh for the next year. What that actually means, it is hard to say at the moment. On one side, it would be natural to see a facelift for that occasion. It that case, we would see a fine amount of changes, though we should keep in mind that the current generation is on the market for about three years, so changes would be subtle. Of course, the focus would be on the front end. This area would come with tweaks in areas such as the grille, front bumper etc. The rear end, as well as the rest of the vehicle, would probably remain untouched, though we count on things like new color options and wheels designs.

Interior

The 2020 Toyota Tacoma changes on the inside probably won’t be so numerous. The Tacoma has always been a pretty straightforward truck and we are pretty sure it will remain in the future as well. That means it will probably keep the same interior layout, which is characterized by excellent quality, though it doesn’t feature such refinement as we can find in some other models in the class. The materials are mostly hard plastics. There may not look so upscale, but be sure that the durability is unquestionably and that this interior will last for decades.

2020 Toyota Tacoma Interior

Just like previous year models, the new Toyota Tacoma 2020 will come in two familiar cab design. Those are known as Access Cab and Double Cab layouts. Depending on the cab layout, this truck can carry either four or five passengers. Also, you can configure this truck with different bed sizes.

When it comes to trim levels and base organization, we are pretty sure that the 2020 Toyota Tacoma will continue in the same way. Of course, each version will probably come with a couple of novelties but the core will remain the same. Count on six familiar trim levels – SR, SR5, TRD Sport, TRD Off-Road, Limited and TRD Pro.

The base SR model may be the least expensive Tacoma, but its list of standard equipment is quite long, particularly in terms of safety features. Things like forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane departure alert, automatic high beams, and adaptive cruise control are all standard features.

Next in the line is the SR5, which adds a couple of interesting features. Some of the most notable are remote keyless entry and a leather-wrapped steering wheel with control buttons. On the outside, this versions adds chrome details, alloy wheels, and foglights.

We are pretty sure that the 2020 Toyota Tundra TRD Sport will continue to be one of the most popular versions of this truck. It is a well-balanced trim level, which besides more standard equipment also comes with visual enhancements like bigger wheels, body-colored bumpers, and fender flares, as well as with a V6 engine. On the inside, count on a 7-inch touchscreen, navigation, wireless charging and much more.

The TRD Off-Road is a bit of an upgrade. It adds s things like extra skid plates, a lockable rear differential, Bilstein monotube shocks, an advanced off-road traction control etc.

Still, for a total off-road experience, the 2020 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro will be the real deal. This one comes with Fox internal bypass shocks, all-terrain tires, a thicker front skid plate and 1-inch higher ground clearance.

Finally, there is a refined Limited trim. This one comes with lots of visual upgrades, as well as with plenty of standard equipment.

2020 Toyota Tacoma Diesel

The 2020 Toyota Tacoma Diesel seems like the biggest novelty for the next year. We expect to see a familiar 2.8-liter unit from Hilux, which delivers around 180 horsepower and 330 pound-feet of torque. With this engine, this excellent truck will become more efficient and have maybe even better towing capacity.

Rest of the lineup will continue with familiar engines. Base models will feature a 2.7-liter four-cylinder unit with around 160 hp. Higher trims will come with a familiar 3.5-liter V6, which is good for 278 horsepower and 265 pound-feet of torque.

2020 Toyota Tacoma Release Date and Price

When it comes to the 2020 Toyota Tacoma release date, it will probably be scheduled for the third or fourth quarter of the year. Base models should go around 25.000 dollars.
