The next generation of Toyota’s full-size pickup truck is on its way. We are getting ready for all kinds of novelties, as the new generation is about to ride on a completely new platform and to come with loads of new features. That all sounds great but how about the 2021 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro? At this point, we don’t know any particular details about this exciting version of the Japanese truck. Still, we have no doubt that Toyota won’t give up on this version. It is a proficient off-roader that needs updates and upgrades in certain aspects only.
Therefore, we expect a lot from the new model. It will come with tons of novelties, just like the standard model, but we count on a full load of additional upgrades as well. This refers to all aspects, including powertrain, mechanics, styling etc. We have no doubt that the 2021 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro will be ready for the initial launch and that it will hit the market along with the rest of the lineup.
Design and Features
We have no doubt that the 2021 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro will come with loads of amazing features. Just like the current model, it will be a proficient off-roader, with loads of off-road features. The current model already comes with upgrades like front tow hooks, a front skid plate, TRD Pro front shocks, and Fox rear shocks but we expect even more from the current model. Of course, it will benefit from a new architecture and it will be notably lighter, which is quite important for performance-oriented models.
We count on exclusive styling details as well. The next-generation will come with completely new styling and the new 2021 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro should come with additional enhancements. At this point, it is hard to talk about details, but we may expect things like new bumpers and wheels, as well as on a unique grille design and similar things. Exclusive color options are expected too.
This is the aspect where we definitely expect more from the new model. The current version isn’t much different compared to the standard model. We hope this will change. The current cabin looks outdated, so changes on the inside should be radical. Just like base models, the 2021 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro should come with a completely new layout, with higher quality, new dashboard design etc. Furthermore, we count on a load of unique features, such as exclusive color schemes, sports seats, long lists of standard equipment etc.
Naturally, we count on new tech features as well. Some of the first things that come to mind are new camera-based systems that debuted in the updated Tacoma. Those are called Panoramic View and Multi-Terrain monitors and they show pretty much everything that is happening around and underneath the vehicle. Of course, we also count on a new infotainment system, more connectivity options and similar upgrades.
2021 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro Engines
Once again, the aspect where we have big expectations. The current model comes with a well-known 5.7-liter V8, which delivers 381 horsepower and 401 pound-feet of torque. For other Tundra models, this amount of power is more than sufficient. However, we would like to see much more in this particular model.
There are two possibilities for the new 2021 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro. The first option would be a new hybrid system, which will power other Tundra models as well. It is a V6-based hybrid powertrain that should be able to deliver around 450-500 horsepower. With such output, the new model would definitely be able to challenge Ford Raptor, not to mention huge benefits in terms of fuel economy.
Another option is to see 2021 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro with a V8 engine. One of the possibilities is to see the same 5.7-liter V8, though with a significant power boost. Also, some reports suggest we could see a newer 5.0-liter V8, which can be found in flagship Lexus models. This engine is good for about 470 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque.
2021 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro Release Date and Price
We expect to see 2021 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro at the same time as other models from the lineup. This would most likely mean somewhere in the third quarter of the next year. When it comes to the price, the current TRD Pro starts at around 48.500 dollars and we probably won’t see some significant power increase in the future.
2020 Tundra TRD Pro Gets New Color Option!
Until we see a complete redesign, the 2020 model year will come with a nice update in terms of a new color option. It is the same Army Green finish we can see in the new Tacoma TRD Pro. Other than that, things will remain pretty much the same. Compared to the rest of the lineup, the TRD Pro stands out with mechanical upgrades and styling details like the unique grille, wheels etc.
