We already know a lot of things that are about to come with the next-generation Tundra. Of course, there are numerous reports about new powertrain options, new design and improvements in general. However, it is early to talk about more specific details, particularly about trim levels and different versions of the new truck. One of the highly anticipated models is definitely the 2022 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro, a hi-performance off-roader that also needs big updated in order to compete with models like Ford Raptor.
At this point, we can only speculate about the novelties, so take the following paragraphs with a reserve, as we are only predicting how the new model could look like.
2022 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro Design
Of course, the first thing that comes to mind is the base design. As you know, the next-generation Tundra is about to get a new F1 platform, which should be significantly lighter compared to the current model. That will definitely play a huge role in the overall ride quality and performances, just like it’s the case with the suspension setup. Of course, the 2022 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro will once again come with significant upgrades compared to standard models. One of the things we expect to see is an independent rear suspension, which will definitely have a huge impact on overall capabilities.
Also, we count on new Fox shocks and suspension setup, which would make 2022 Tundra TRD Pro act better on pawn roads and hard terrains. The last but not least, we count on rear lockers. The current model lacks this feature, which we consider the biggest drawback when compared to models like Ford Raptor etc. Of course, that shouldn’t be the only off-road upgrade, as we count on many other exclusive features.
Styling and Interior Design
The TRD-Pro models have always been characterized by distinctive stylings and the 2022 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro definitely won’t be an exception. At this point, we cant talk about details, but we are pretty sure it will feature a lot of exclusive details, starting from a different grille, bumpers, wheels etc. The current model comes with some exclusive color options, including the new Army Green, so we may see similar things in the new model as well.
The same thing goes for interior design. A lot of things are expected to be exclusive, starting from color schemes, seats, stitching, all kinds of logos etc. Of course, we also count on a pretty long list of standard equipment, though we won’t go into details this time. Also, we expect that the 2022 Tundra TRD Pro will be available both as a Double Cab and as CrewMax model.
2022 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro Engines
This is where things become tricky. The current model comes with a well-known 5.7-liter V8, which is good for about 380 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque, and we definitely expect something more powerful in the new model, something that will be able to compete with Raptor’s 450 horses. Therefore, there’s a big chance to see a new hybrid setup in the 2022 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro. This system is about to feature between 450 and 500 horsepower, which sounds pretty good. On the other side, some experts believe this would make a truck more expensive, so an upgraded version of the current engine is possible too. Finally, we might see both units in the offer for the 2022 Tundra TRD Pro.
Release Date and Price
We expect to see 2022 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro introduced along with the rest of the lineup, sometime in the second half of the next year. When it comes to the price, the current model starts at 48.500 dollars and we don’t expect a significant increase in the future.
